Beautiful Taffeta

Here's the deal:

I'm 21 and single. I have been single for nearly five years. I can't find anything flattering to wear and sometimes I just feel too unattractive to socialize with others (about 20-30 lbs over the weight listed on charts). My self-esteem is about zero.

The Spring Fling is a dance at the all woman's college that I attend. There will be few men there, and the types that will show are from a minority of jocks who will doubtlessly gloat over the available female flesh, looking divine in silk and taffeta dresses with beautiful bodies. I've been to dances like this before, and enjoyed myself - but there is no chance I will catch the interest of a guy. Mostly the dance will probably have a lot of loud rap music and I will talk with a few general friends.

Should I go to this dance, or would it be a waste of time?
Thanks everyone. There was actually no dancing, just a bunch of gambling tables with live music and monopoly money for raffles. I had a nice time.
