Black Tuxedo Vest
Do I need a cummerbund and a vest for a tuxedo for a wedding?
I don’t know anything about this stuff, so I don’t know what I really need, I don’t want to get more than I need.
Do I need the special shoes, can’t I just wear by black Vans.
Either a cummerbund or a vest will do. Good vests are low-cut and black like this:

Bad vests, like you often see, are high-cut and colorful like this:

If you can’t find a low-cut vest, go with a black cummerbund. The bow tie should be black and self-tied; no long ties, no pre-tied, no colors.
No black Vans. Ever. If you already have black lace-up dress shoes like this:

you can shine them, or have them shined, and get by. If you rent, you’ll get plastic shoes–passable, but not great.
The shirt should be white and have a laydown collar. Wing collars are unpredictable. The jacket should have one or two buttons, and should of course be black. Black studs and cufflinks are required.
