Making Flower Tiaras
A flower tiara is a popular form of accessory, commonly found and worn in a greater variety of events from spring day, Halloween to even weddings. Girls whether young or old love incorporating a part of nature into their attire. Whether it is an actual flower or made from other materials is not what is important but the essence and symbolism which evokes certain emotions from those who see it. With wearing flower tiaras, it gives a fresh feeling.
Tiaras made from natural or synthetic flowers can be bought from a variety of shops. Individuals can also choose to make their own tiaras, if they have the time and wish to unleash their creativity. Materials can easily be purchased even at the nearby hardware shop or from an individual's personal garden. Tiaras created from flowers can be as simple or as sophisticated, depending on individual taste and ability. Here are a few steps to making your own flower tiara. These steps are just a guide and can easily be amended however you choose.
A few basic items that need to be purchased include floral wire, elastic, pliers, wire cutters, florist beads or ribbons to accessorize and most importantly, flowers. Select whether to choose real or artificial flowers. Each has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Artificial flowers are cheap and readily available. You can select from a wide variety of types of flowers and colors to fit the need but these tend to look too synthetic at times. They also last longer than tiaras made from natural flowers. On the other hand, natural flowers tend to be more expensive when purchased from the shop but look better. Natural flowers are also known not to last long. A tiara made from natural buds may have to be done the day before or nearer to the wedding event.
Bend a length of wire to a circular shape. Estimate and cut a length of this wire that will serve as the base for the tiara. Make sure that it is long enough to lie comfortably on top of your head. Twist both of the ends backwards onto themselves and flatten the ends so that you do not hurt yourself when wearing the tiara.
Cut a few buds measuring around 3-4 inches each. Remember not to overdo the flowers as to avoid looking like having a garden on top of the head. These can be tied to the base using thin wire. Brides can add ribbons or beads to accessorize the tiara. The beads can be strung on separate thin pieces of wire, twist the ends together and around the base. For a cleaner look, additional thin wire can be wrapped around the base to hide the unsightly edges from tying flowers and accessories to the base.
Again, these are just suggestions and can be modified to suit user preference as well as the event itself. A flower tiara is not just limited to the bride and can be fashioned to fit adults or kids alike. For a wedding, remember to allocate enough time to make the tiara while considering if any of the materials will wilt.
