Is a long dress appropriate for a wedding where the ceremony is at 1pm and the reception is at 7pm?
I am attending a wedding at a fancy hotel, the ceremony is at 1pm and the cocktails are at 6pm, with the reception dinner at 7pm. The dress I have in mind is a long black and silver patterned dress (light material) I would wear it with flats and simple Jewelry. Is this too dressy?
Indeed it may be. The only reason I say so is because of the color. You mentioned that it was black and silver and that may be too dark for an "afternoon" wedding. You may want to choose something lighter in color if you have it. If not since there is a "silver pattern" in it and you are going to wear flats and simple jewelry to keep it toned down it may be OK.
